Porcelain

The 30-year blue and white porcelain bottle itself carries the 6000-year history of this spirit. The word “Jiu”, meaning Alcohol in Chinese in various written formats from different Chinese Dynasties is printed on the bottle.

Fenjiu’s Signature Porcelain Bamboo cup was designed and first produced in the 1970s. It’s shape, an upright bamboo stem, symbolises continuous growth, good wishes and long life. Although the cup has the appearance of an ordinary ceramic cup, it is in fact split into two sections and can be used from both ends. The top end holds the smallest measure, with seven shots equating to the traditional Chinese liang (兩) unit of measurement, or 5cl, and the reverse end holds three times as much as the top end. The reverse end of the goblet, holding three times as much as the top symbolises the ancient Chinese saying, “draw inferences about other cases from one instance” or “learn by analogy”.

Drinking from the bamboo cup during festive seasons is a way for Chinse to send each other good wishes. Although the traditional way of drinking Baijiu is still favoured by conservative/senior people, Fenjiu is also commonly enjoyed as a lifestyle drink (just like whisky) or cocktails by younger generation, due to its complex and unique layers of fragrance and flavour. It is also a fabulous addition to both Chinese and Western cooking and baking. Fenjiu’s unique qualities allow us to explore new ways of appreciating something with a long and rich heritage. Enjoying Fenjiu is also representing a lifestyle of class and taste.
